Learners study character adjectives, then use a rubrick to write a letter that describes themselves. On reading out the letters other learners must guess who in the class wrote that.

A worksheet to maximise the value of the BBC short video about languages and sport emphasizing Spanish. The children needed several viewings with pauses.

A presentation about Cuba with flag to colour, and a video to watch - I put the video on my memory stick to avoid the school firewall. I loved seeing struggling learners sing along to the song at the end of the class.

You need 2 dice. Assign frog or ladybird to each child, and pass the dice round the circle to the tune. When the song finishes, the two dice holders throw them and see who gets more 'flies'.

The illustrations explain the sentences, so the children can work out and tell me what they mean. Once we have had a look at a video and a dance there is a worksheet testing knowledge of body parts named in the song.

Work the number worksheet to get used to the numbers. Pin up the scores sheets from the top trumps slides. Each table gets a pile of blank animal cards that they have to draw the animal on, and a pile of score cards that they have to complete and stick to the card. The game is used as a treat which helps revision.

The children can find out what the animals eat, put ears, legs and tails onto shapes (not included) to make horses and sheep, play snap, and sing a memorable song with the opportunity to create actions for it.

2 colouring sheets - Papa Noel brings presents, and sad and happy papa noel (depending on if I am good), and one sheet of stickers - present from ...\nThe children wrote AMOR = LOVE on a piece of paper and put it in a mini cereal box, then wrapped it and put a sticker with their name on. Decorate the classroom til the end of term then take it home.

There is an English calendar as a backing sheet, a Spanish copy to provide the words. The words on the Spanish one are cut out and placed over the English words, then they can be stuck in the 'today' spot as a daily activity. Works well laminated and with blu tack. I gave one to each child in a small group to use at home, but would work better blown up to A3 if it is for a whole class.

These are two books - one has key words replaced by pictures which children have to read as words; the other has English and Spanish dual text for the children to illustrate. I ask them to learn a page each so they can tell the story without the words, and video it so they can monitor their performances.

Lots of activities based around an Argentinian playtime song about sheep playing in the woods while the wolf isn't there. I have included sound files for pronunciation and my own type of lesson plan. I hope this is useful - it could provide work for several sessions.

The children sort out the animals in carpet time, taking pollitos to sleep in the nido, and perritos to sleep in the cesta.\n\nThe finger book takes a bit of making, but is very popular. The pages need to be stuck on card then holes cut where indicated for your fingers to come through to be the gusanitos that the chicks go hunting. Only for those who do love clarting on!

I designed these activities with old jenga bricks that I painted, and developed them to be used once printed onto card and laminated. The activities teach colours and mucho, poco and todo.

I took in a puppet and commented on its colours and features. Children commented on their own colours and features. Then I provided socks for children to make puppets with Spanish names, and they made little books about their own puppets using the templates in these documents. Of course, the puppets are proud of speaking Spanish, and the puppet who manages to speak exclusively Spanish the longest wins a prize. We use, sí, no, no sé, and gradually introduce more Spanish phrases as puppets are knocked out.

A variety of verbs which can be enacted fit into each consecutive verse of this song. You may add your own verbs. I find sleep and clap work well as the final two verses.

Chu Chu wa is an action song to learn parts of the body. Here is a book with each action in it to be coloured in, a monster with the body parts to decorate, and the body words with missing letters to complete.
